Venue Manager Duties
Thank you for taking on the role of Venue Manager.
The Venue Manager is the Hobart Cup representative at the venue and the main point of contact for teams, referees, Game Leaders, volunteers and spectators.
The job is to help the venue run safely, calmly and on time.
Before the first match
Arrive with enough time to check the venue before play starts.
Make sure fields are ready and safe for use.
Check goals are secure and correctly positioned.
Make sure the correct Hobart Cup playing format signs are displayed beside the fields.
Check toilets and change rooms (where provided), are accessible.
Know where first aid is located.
Know the emergency vehicle access point for the venue.
Have the venue map and emergency information available.
Check the first matches and make sure teams can identify the correct fields.
During the day
Be the first point of contact at the venue.
Help keep matches running as close as possible to the published schedule.
Assist teams, referees and Game Leaders with practical questions.
Where there is uncertainty about playing rules, refer people to the Hobart Cup rules sign beside the field and the official Tournament Rules.
Teams may normally play under different rules in their own competitions. Hobart Cup rules apply at the tournament.
Encourage teams to clarify uncertainty with the opposition and referee/Game Leader before kick-off.
Monitor behaviour and reinforce Play With Respect expectations.
Do not tolerate abuse of referees, Game Leaders, players, coaches or spectators.
Escalate serious disputes or incidents rather than allowing arguments to continue.
Scores and results
Make sure the result of all competitive matches (U8s to U16s) are collected and recorded.
Where required, take the match ball and match slip to the field before the game.
If there is an appointed referee, provide the match slip to the referee.
After the game, collect the ball and completed match slip where applicable.
Check that the final score is clearly recorded.
Enter or confirm the result through the Hobart Cup results system as instructed.
If teams disagree about a result, do not guess. Clarify it before entering the score.
Contact the Tournament Director if the result cannot be resolved.
Enter results as soon as practical so ladders remain current.
If you have issues with the rosters or entering the results, please contact the Tournament Administrator on 0427 270 397.
At the end of play for the day
Check the venue and fields.
Report damaged or missing equipment.
Collect temporary Hobart Cup equipment or signs that are not being left in place.
Place lost property in the designated location.
Report any outstanding issues or significant incidents to the Tournament Director.
Leave the venue tidy and secure where required.
If unsure: check the field sign, then the Venue Manager Hub/Tournament Rules, then contact the Tournament Director.
At the end of the tournament collect and pack up all Hobart Cup equipment.
